Summer’s here! That means more outdoor fun for you and your pets. More outdoor activities will increase your pet’s chance to pick up fox tails (grass seed awns) and burs. These seeds can burrow into your pet’s skin and become harmful to your pet’s health if left untreated.

Always check your pet’s: paws, ears, eyes, nose, mouth, genitals/surrounding area (especially females) after any outdoor activity. you may opt to use a flea comb/fine toothed comb to check the paws, ears or any other place of concern.

Contact your vet if your pet is experiencing any pain or you cannot remove the whole seed. You may also try preventative methods to protect the paws, ears, eyes, and mouth with gear. ( e.g field guard head protector, boots, goggles )
